About the Instructor 

Master Gary Simmons is a 7th Dan World Taekwondo (WT) black belt, with over 30 years experience as a professional Taekwondo instructor. He is the Senior Chief Instructor of the Shire Martial Arts black belt school in Sydney Australia, which he founded in 1995. 

During the course of his teaching career, Master Gary has introduced thousands of people to the art of Taekwondo. He's taught hundreds of men and women, young and old to earn their black belts. 

Also, Master Gary has mentored dozens of black belts to become Taekwondo instructors and school owners in their own right. They continue to teach, inspire and mentor their students around the world today.

Am I too old to learn Taekwondo?

This Introductory Program is suitable for visual, audio and kinaesthetic learning styles 

For any kind of educational program to be successful, it must be delivered to each individual student in the style or combination of styles in which they prefer. The Shire Martial Arts Taekwondo World Academy has you covered.The modules in this and subsequent programs are delivered in various modalities that cater to all learning styles.

Visual: All new techniques are taught with ’training videos’ that break down each and every technique, so you can pick up on every nuance. I highlight the key technical points and common mistakes, so you can concentrate on getting it right. Once you know how to execute a technique, I put them together in real time, in what I call ‘class videos’ which are just that, a Taekwondo class that you can follow on any device.There are also pdf files for you to download, read and digest in your own time

Auditory: Some people feel more comfortable consuming knowledge by listening. Every class video is also available for you to download as an mp3 audio file. You can download the mp3 files onto your device and train without being distracted by watching videos, if that’s what you prefer. Also, the theory and philosophical components are available as mp3 files. 

Kinaesthetic: If you like hands on training, then Taekwondo is perfect you. After all Taekwondo is about utilising your bio-mechanical design, so it may be used in its most efficient manner. All training videos and class videos require you to follow the lessons in slow motion and in real time, so that you develop ‘muscle memory’.

Social: You can enlist a family member to be your training partner (at no extra charge) so you can learn together and support each other. We also have regular Q&A sessions delivered via regular webinars, where you can ask specific questions about your training.There’s also a FaceBook group that’s available exclusively for Shire Martial Arts Taekwondo World Academy online students.
